Craigellachie Gives Away A 51 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Reminiscent of an unpeated Caol Ila. This 13-year old scotch is one if my favourites. This is my first Speyside so I have nothing to compare it against, but on it's own it is a wondrous delight! There are elements of tropical fruit, some Japanese pear, a slight licorice notes and a bit of vanilla. This is a brilliant, muscular dram that certainly does the distillery proud. Berry-like sauce, malted undercurrent, charcoal. Oodles of dynamic fruit notes with a distinctive current of smoke running through the middle.

It is the finest whisky I have ever tasted from Speyside and I have tried most of them. The vast majority is used in the creation of Dewers various blends. The distillery was built in 1891, when the great Alfred Barnard described our whisky as 'a style seldom met', and we've been old fashioned - in style and flavour - ever since. Also, fresh water has dissolved oxygen in it, so it helps to oxidize the whisky to open it up. John Dewers and Sons purchased it in 1998. Good general mouthfeel, though viscosity is lower than expected. A blended Scotch whisky can make use of any whisky that fits these criteria as part of its components.

Sadly its now an old dog, senile and a bit dribbly - there are stains on its bean bag and it smells weird. Old Particular single cask selection. Craigellachie, the Speyside whiskey distiller that is part of the whisky portfolio of Bacardi Ltd, has introduced a new twist to the marketing of ultra-aged whiskies. I love the way the earthy and sweet notes play off of each other. I could've spent hours drinking this. By shopping with us today, you're lending a helping hand. We both had Scotch, yes, but we had two very different styles of Scotch: one a single malt, one a blend.

Therefore Local Retail Partners will notify us of qualifying items prior to fulfillment if any additional amount is due. The finish is medium length, sweet, with a touch of pepperiness. A splash of water brings out a bit more of the wood, malt and earth. The distillery is one of the dozen or so that still use worm tubs to cool the spirit. I also write about the dusty, forgotten places of the world, the ones that reek of history and whose stories still resonate in the 21st century. It obstinately stands alone on a rock overlooking the confluence of the rivers Fiddich and Spey. This goes perfectly with the caramel. There are lesser-known categories between these two pillars, too. However those enthusiast are rarely there for the little known Craigallechie distillery and are there for its neighbors The Macallan, Glenfiddich, Aberlour and Glen Grant. I could never afford a bottle of that age.

Palate: Lots of depth-honeycombe, a gentle spiciness and charred oak. Malts are, generally, better for drinking neat, savoring, making a special moment. The palate has more orchard flavours, with caramel and more bananas. I'm ordering more as I type this!!!! The finish is strong, with a hint of sulphur and more orchard fruits. Much of this for me is to do with the minimal copper contact provided by the distillery. In fact, more than three-quarters of Scottish whisky is blended.
