Maybe they are supposed to represent ice cristals? Adams was joined by Titus Hammersley. The base has light crazing with a little minor wear to the outer rim and inside one or two minor blemishes. The Palissy Company and the Hammersley trade name were sold to Aynsley China in 1989. Decoration is blue transfer printed 'Asiatic Pheasants' and the base has a maker's mark with the pattern name and 'R. Godden describes it rather than has an image of it.

A large wavy rim dish with a little minor surface scratching and minor signs of wear otherwise excellent condition. Hammersley plate, Gem ironstone signed R. So at least some bone china manufacturer spells it this way. It could also be a modern maker maybe. You mention a pottery mark with a Royal Crest.

It's a white plate and the image on the plate is blue. I am downsizing my home to move into a retirement village and was wondering if it is of any value and worth keeping? Any solutions to this thorny one please post here. Moulded side handles to the base and to the cover. As often there are a few minor stress cracks, which occurred in manufacture. In December 1988 the use of the Hammersley and Palissy trade names ceased and in 1989 Palissy closed and the factory was demolished. I suspect that the number was added by hand after glazing and that it has worn off any comments? Maker or brand: Pattern name: or Pattern type:. They are not disfiguring as they are right inside or underneath the bath.

Hammersley and Co Longton Ltd Longton 1932 1982 manufacturer at ,. We have never heard of another and the most extensive collection ever assembled did not include an example. Light all over crazing with just a hint of very minor discolouration and a touch of very minor wear to the outer rim. The real difference is the Hammersley mark described is a classic Victorian garter type mark with a crown on the top - like the one above. If anyone has comments or suggestions I'd be very happy. It would be interesting to hear the expert comment on that. Backstamp: Asiatic Pheasants R H and impressed 81 on stand. Maker: Eardley and Hammersley Pattern: Asiatic Pheasants Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1865 An absolutely stunning large dish with wavy rim and tree and well feature. The tureen and cover have gently moulded detail making this a most pleasing set. The words England and Ltd do not appear on the back, but there is an indentation that I cannot make out, something like a hallmark! They are two stunning items and I Googled the name as I have only heard of Hammersley and can find nothing in my reference books.

Transferware-Dark Blue; Hammersley R , American Eagle, Plate, 6 inch. In 1970 Hammersley was bought by Carborundum Ltd who had already purchased the pottery company in 1966 this is the company that followed on from Spode in the 19th century. All the pottery marks say: Hammersly Pottery decorators Ltd, a royal crest, then Fine Bone China, all in green. In 1976 the companies merged with Royal Worcester to become Royal Worcester Spode Ltd. Dated 1868, Gem ironstone plate signed R. Inside the bath on the bottom is a hairline and another running along one side, where the bottom meets the side, but this does not show on the outside. The Heron mark, being a Scottish firm, has a thistle, not a crown and it isn't the classic garter mark Godden describes.
